NORTHERN IRELAND

…the Troubles, a long-running conflict that took place mainly in Northern Ireland and lasted for some 30 years, from the late 1960s until 1998

At the beginning of 2025, we carried out a research visit to Belfast to conduct on-site research. We visited the exhibition “The Troubles and Beyond,” which explores the complex heritage of Northern Ireland, and “Drawing Support: Murals, Memory and Identity,” which showcases the work of Bill Rolston at the Ulster Museum in Belfast. During her stay, Marina Gržinić interviewed Richard English, Professor of Politics at Queen’s College Belfast, where he is also Director of the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice.
